September Home Party Ideas | Direct Sales Party Plan

August 11, 2016

Are you looking for September Home Party ideas for your direct sales or party plan business? September is full of fun, unique holidays that you can use as party themes. As a leader in the industry, I’ve found that customers don’t want to be “sold” to. Hosts and party guests want to have fun, connect, craft, and share in food and conversation.

September Party Ideas for Direct Sales

Let’s take a look at all the fun ideas you can use for your home parties in September. My favorites would be “Talk Like a Pirate Day”, “Fortune Cookie Day”, “World Gratitude Day” and “Chocolate Milkshake Day” -just think of all the ways you can incorporate these ideas into an awesome home party, while still keeping things simple!

September Party Ideas for Direct Sales

September Party Ideas on Pinterest

Seriously, you can keep your September parties simple and fun while allowing your products to shine. Keep your party theme as the primary focus, with your products secondary. In case you missed it earlier, PEOPLE DON’T WANT TO BE SOLD TO. They want to have fun and an experience. How can you incorporate your products into these fun themes? I’ve pinned lots of ideas into my September Party Pinterest board. As you look through the board, keep in mind that you don’t have to do EVERYTHING. Just pick a few things, tweek the ideas if you need to, and most importantly have fun!

Talk Like A Pirate Day Party

I think you could get a lot of fun interaction with a Talk Like a Pirate Day theme. How about this yummy Rum Punch recipe? The invitations this mom used for her son’s Pirate Party were super cute! It would be easy to draw, cut, and make them yourself. Print out these free Pirate Eye patches and everyone wears one. Of course everyone needs a pirate name too! Have those sticky name tags and guests can write their pirate name from this “Find Your Pirate Name” printable.

Baby Safety Month Party

For real, you can have a Baby Safety Month party! Invite all the moms you know with little ones. Talk about ways to childproof your spaces, and everyone do a show and tell of their favorite products. Talk about car seat safety, and invite a police officer to come and do car seat safety checks. Create a babysitters checklist for guests to take home. If your products have a safety element to them, be sure to talk about that too! There are some great ideas on Pinterest.

Fortune Cookie Day Party

I don’t know about you, but a Fortune Cookie Day party would be awesome! It’s like a craft and a treat all at the same time! Here’s a great recipe along with a printable with fortunes already done.   If you’d rather make paper fortune cookies, here’s a great template. I super-duper love these gold-dipped fortune cookies too.

Skyscraper Day Party

This may sound like a strange party to have, but there’s lots of fun facts about skyscrapers. You can play some trivia games, and then play a game of who can build the highest or strongest skyscraper. Use marshmallows and toothpicks (or dry spaghetti noodles), or play a game of Jenga (write some fun facts about your products on the Jenga pieces).

Childhood Cancer Awareness Party

Since September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month, you can do a fundraiser if your company offers a kids product line (donate a certain amount for each product sold from your business), make hats for cancer patients, or do a children’s book drive and donate books to the local children’s oncology floor.

Book September Home Parties

Book your September home parties to help propel your business this fall. There’s so many ideas and themes you can use for September. Follow my September Party Theme Ideas Pinterest Board, or follow I Am Wickless on Pinterest.

Monthly Home Party Ideas

Every month I’ll be adding to the list of ideas. Think outside of the box how you can incorporate fun into your home parties. Don’t just sell your products, make your party memorable and you’ll find it a lot easier to get bookings. Craft, snacks, learning new things, coming together for a purpose as you serve the community, these are reasons to come together. Your parties need to be engaging and interactive. Easy Essential Oil Playdough

May 11, 2016

My quest for an easy playdough recipe began in the mid-90’s while living in Utah. I was a young mom and an in-home child care provider. Everyday children came and went as I learned to balance part-time, full-time, and my own children into the day. There were hours spent preparing sensory activities so children in my care were given opportunity to explore, touch, smell, see, hear, and discover the world around them. Sensory experiences are so important for a child’s development. One sensory activity that never got old was playdough. They loved it -EVERY DAY!

Easy Essential Oil Playdough

The playdough purchased at the store was a bit pricey for our little family budget, and I didn’t know what most of those ingredients were anyway. We went to the public library and found a bunch of books on creating inexpensive child activities. There were a couple of playdough recipes that I tried, but it wasn’t until one of the childcare mom’s shared one, and for 20+ years it’s been my go-to favorite playdough recipe.

Easy Playdough

This playdough is easy to make, super soft and, as long as it’s kept in an airtight container while it’s sitting, will last for at least a few weeks. A single recipe batch will make about a cup and a half and usually I’ll divide it to make 6 colors. You can leave it white, add color and fragrance oil while cooking to create a single color, or whatever floats your boat -the fact is, it’s an easy playdough to make, and it’s the best playdough recipe I’ve found.

Watch the YouTube Video for reference on how to make easy playdough:

Here’s the recipe with step-by-step photos:

I just mix the ingredients in a pot:

1 Cup Flour
1/3 C Salt
2 tsp Cream of Tarter
Stir dry ingredients
1 TBS Vegetable Oil (Sometimes I use canola, but have never tried coconut oil in this recipe)
1 Cup Cold Water
Stir over medium heat for 8-10 minutes until there is no liquid remaining and a soft ball forms to your spoon. You should be able to touch it without it sticking to your finger.

Easy Playdough with Essential Oils

When Scentsy came out with Essential Oils, 100% Natural Oils and Oil Blends for fragrance, Scentsy Consultants were so excited. Our customers have been asking for essential oils for quite some time! Now you can enjoy a unique fragrance experience in an all natural way with our diffusers and scented oils. With our Scentsy Kids diffusers and oil blends, there are lots more ways to enjoy the oils -why not through scented play! With almost 30 Scentsy Oil fragrances, this easy scented playdough recipe just got a lot more fun and truly a multi-sensory experience.

The Best Scented Playdough for Sensory

Scentsy Warmers and wax are the flagship products, but did you know that Scentsy Essential and Natural Oils are gaining popularity as an alternative for fragrance? Scentsy Diffusers are beautiful are adorable! Our kid friendly natural oil blends smell amazing, so why not add them to this easy playdough recipe for that additional sensory experience. Simply add a 3-4 drops of fragrance oil to each divided section, or about 15 drops per batch, and you’ll create the best scented playdough EVER!

Easy Essential Oil Playdough Step 13

I personally like the gel food coloring because it seems much brighter. If your adding light and dark food coloring to your easy essential oil playdough, be sure to start with the lightest color first so you don’t accidentally bleed dark color into your light. If that happens, either wash your hands really good, or throw on some rubber gloves.

Easy Essential Oil Playdough Step 14

Easy Essential Oil Playdough Step 15

Seriously, if you haven’t tried Scentsy fragrance oils you are missing out! They come in almost 30 fragrances and are great for aromatherapy and sensory fun. Think of calming lavender playdough before bed, or using the calming blend playdough when they are feeling anxious. It’s even great for anxious adults too. Aromatherapy and playdough -yes please!

Easy Essential Oil Playdough Step 17

For this batch, I used all Scentsy Fragrance Oils, two from our Scentsy Kids category: Sweet Melon (Kids), Lavender Orange Blossom (my summertime favorite!), Juicy Pear (Kids), Tangerine Lemon, Lavender, and Orange Strawberry Melon. They all just smell amazing!

Easy Essential Oil Playdough Step 18

I found these containers at our local dollar store (Dollar Tree) and they’re the perfect size, or you can use a small zip snack bag, or another air tight container. These are great for a small group of kids, or if your having an easy essential oil playdough party.

Easy Essential Oil Playdough Step 20

Make & Take Scentsy Party

If you’re a Scentsy Consultant and want to use these as a make and take party, that would be so fun! I made the labels (you’ll need a 1″ circle punch) if you want to print them off. Making this easy essential oil playdough recipe would give party guests a chance to interact with our oils and allow for an interactive fragrance experience.

This would also be a fun interactive party for kids, or even a team meeting to get your teams thinking about other uses for fragrance oil. I have an upcoming Kids/Baby Expo and am planning on giving out playdough samples. I think the kids and parents will love them!

PRINT LABELS HERE

Easy Essential Oil Playdough Step 21

Don’t forget to face the hole punch so you can see the underside. This will help you to line up the circles.

Easy Essential Oil Playdough Step 22

If you used a sticker sheet to print, you’ll just need to punch out the circles and take the backing off. If you used card stock, then just add a little glue runner or glue dot to stick.

Easy Essential Oil Playdough Step 23

So, give it a try! If you have other oils, you can use those in this easy essential oil playdough recipe, but you should totally give our Scentsy oils a try. If you have a Scentsy Diffuser, even better! If you just want to try the oils for this easy playdough recipe, it’s the perfect combination for sensory play and colorful fun. Also, just like our Scentsy wax bars, you can mix a few drops of different oils to create your own custom fragrance combinations. Give it a try and tell me what you think! What are your favorite Scentsy oil combinations?

National Watermelon Day:

How about some Whacky Watermelon Bowling, a Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest, Vodka Infused Watermelon, making watermelon bunting decorations, Watermelon Jicama Mint Salad, mini watermelon cakes – so many great ideas for National Watermelon Day!

Aviation Day:

Aviation Day would be fun to throw an aviation party! Make paper airplanes and have a flying contest (complete with a runway), make fun airplane invitations, play pin the propeller on the airplane, jet fuel punch, serve in-flight snacks -BRING THE FUN with some Aviation Day ideas.
